AltCA3D: AN INTEGRATED SYSTEM FOR GIS-BIM FOR ARCHAEOLOGICAL DATA. CASE STUDY OF ALTINO (VE)
Abstract
The integration of GIS tools in archaeology has now become an established practice, proving to be extremely effective in managing the various types of data acquired and processed throughout the different phases of research. At the same time, the growing spread of 3D survey techniques now allows for the recording of increasingly accurate and precise metric data in significantly shorter timeframes. Precisely because there is a trend toward documentation that is strongly characterized by its three-dimensional component, some experimental projects are currently exploring the potential of using BIM (Building Information Modeling) in archaeology.
